Carolina Marin took the lead, when Spain was off to a good start at the 2018 European Men’s & Women’s Team Championships.
On the opening day Carolina Marin, Beatriz Corrales and the Spanish team showed, that they are ready to compete on the biggest stage.
Carolina Marin won the first women’s singles 21-7 21-6 against Agnes Korosi from Hungary giving Spain the lead, and Corrales also won in straight games 21-16 21-16 against Daniella Gonda.
- I think it was a good match. It was a different game than I use to play, but I think it was good, Marin says.

- It will be difficult
Carolina Marin is satisfied with her performance, and she tells Badminton Europe, that the Spanish ambitions are big.

- Our ambitions are to get a medal. We know it will be difficult, because there are many good teams. Russia is a good team and they are playing on home court. Bulgaria is a strong team and of course Denmark, Marin says.
Spain got a good start in the group stage winning 3-2 against Hungary.
