Scottish Women’s Singles player, Kirsty Gilmour, lost against Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand, currently world ranked number six, in the first round of the DANISA Denmark Open.

Kirsty Gilmour and Ratchanok Inatanon – a duel that got underway for the fourth time in total in Odense.

Old opponents

Thereby, Gilmour was not able to win against the better-ranked Intanon, as Gilmour already defeated Intanon at the VICTOR Korean Open in the end of September.

- I played a little bit better the last time. I knew Ratchanok could have learnt some lessons from the last time. Ratchanok is a world-class player, so she does not make the same mistakes twice. It was a tough match, says Gilmour after the match.

Defending the title

With Carolina Marin being knocked out by Mia Blichfeldt on Tuesday, Ratchanok Intanon has good chances of defending her title as winner of the DANISA Denmark Open in Women’s Singles.

- The Women’s Singles matches are exciting here. I cannot say that the top seeded are the favourites, as it depends on the daily performance of the players.

- All players here are very experienced. So, everything is possible. But of course, I hope to win again, says Intanon.
