The highly anticipated Norwegian International begins today with Denmark’s Rasmus Messerschmidt looking to build on an impressive win at the Hungarian International.
The Dane is seeded number three in Norway, as the 26-year-old looks to continue his recent form which has seen him rise to his highest ever ranking of seventh on the European Circuit. He will face either Joel Konig (Switzerland) or Jeppe Bruun (Denmark) in round two tomorrow.
Elsewhere in the Men’s Singles, number one seed, Luis Enrique Penalver (Spain) returns to the European Circuit after a round of 32 exit in the SaarLorLux Open last week.
The Spaniard, who is still looking for his first title of the year, will be looking to improve on a quarter-final finish here last year.
Hometown hope in the doubles
The home fans will be keeping their eyes on the Doubles this week with Norwegian pairs in both the Men’s and Women’s Doubles among the favourites, to keep the trophy on home-turf.
In the Women’s Doubles, the pair of Solvar Flaten Jorgensen and Natalie Syvertsen will be desperate to win on home soil.
The third seeds are set to take on the Latvian pair of Una Berga and Liana Lencevica in the second round, after receiving a bye in round 1, tomorrow.
Whilst the male pair of Sturla Flaten Jorgensen and Carl Christian Monk are also seeded number three in Norway.
The pair return to action after a disappointing last 16 exit to Giovanni Greco and Kevin Strobl at the Hellas Open towards the end of October and will be looking to bounce back with a good showing here.
