Big result for Danish Mia Blichfeldt who beats Saina Nehwal at the World Championships.

- I want to be a role model for young players.

The European Games winner gave that statement after her first win at the World Championships. Thursday night she showed that a lot of young players can learn from her, when it comes to coolness and fighting spirit.

Mia Blichfeldt is now a quarterfinalist at the Worlds after beating Indian super star, Saina Nehwal, in three games 15-21 27-25 21-12.

- Right now I do not know what to say. I am shaking, Mia Blichfeldt said in the mixed zone after her win.

Turning point
The 22-year-old played one of her best matches throughout her career, and Mia Blichfeldt points to the beginning of the second game to find the turning point.

- I got a good start in the second game, which was important to me. I felt the first game was very bad and went too fast. I felt I did not do anything from my game plan, but when I began to move the shuttle around the court, I began to feel comfortable, Blichfeldt.

- I am so happy that I kept fighting.

In the quarterfinals Blichfeldt will be playing Chen Yufei from China.

In the women’s doubles category Maiken Fruergaard and Sara Thygesen, Denmark, lost in straight games to the top seeds Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara, Japan, 19-21 19-21
