Denmark’s Mathias Boe and Mads Conrad-Petersen’s run in the Taipei Open has come to an end at the semifinal stage.

After a long week, the Danish pair were the last Europeans left in the competition but fell just short of making finals day after a close encounter at the Tapei Arena.

Malaysians just too strong 
It was the Malaysian pair of Wee Kiong Tan and Wei Shem Goh that put an end to the Danes' impressive run.

The fourth seeds were just too strong for the unseeded Danes, who fell to a 21-18, 11-21, 12-21 defeat.

The near hour-long matchup started brightly for the Danes, who took the opening game after an impressive four consecutive point run when at 12-12 to both take control and send them on their way to an 18-21 opening game win.

Midway through the second game however, the Malaysians found their feet in the match and showed their class to the crowd in Chinese Taipei. Tied at 8-8, the Malaysians went on to win ten of the final thirteen points for a 21-11 leveler in the second, before dominating the third from the off to take the decider.

The win sees the Malaysians reach their first final since the Thailand Masters back in January but the Danes will still be happy to reach the semifinal stage after being unseeded for the event.

Goh and Tan’s reward for the win will see them go on to face the Korean pair of Solgyu Choi and Seung Jae Seo in the men’s doubles final on Sunday.
