Chris Spiteri, our new Commercial Manager, hails from the sunny archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, Malta. More specifically from a small town in the harbour region named Hamrun, just 3km from the capital Valletta.
A former badminton player himself he comes from a strong badminton family. Chris in fact took part in one of the first Badminton Europe Summer Schools. He then embarked on a career in business and media, but always kept in touch with the badminton community. Five and a half years ago becoming the President of Badminton Malta.
Grow rapidly
Through his work Chris has had the opportunity to work with Badminton Europe and wanted to be a part of its direction. His hometown’s motto is ‘Propera augesco’ meaning to grow rapidly. This is exactly his motivation upon joining Badminton Europe. Speaking about his plans he said
-I would like to see badminton grow in Europe and internationally. Badminton needs to be accessible to everyone and I would like to increase the popularity and develop the image of Badminton Europe for fans, players, coaches and all those involved in badminton.
A large part of this is the presence the sport can have across Europe. Speaking on this, Chris added
-One of my targets is to increase the number of partners we have and of course strengthen the relationships we already have. I’d like to create more win-win situations with them so that we can all grow holistically.
We welcome Chris to the team and look forward to work with him.
