Nineteen-year-old women’s singles player, Line Christophersen has made a mark on the circuit this year. A couple of tournament titles and a few key matches against top opposition for the young Dane has grabbed the attention of the badminton community.
Speaking to Christophersen, we asked how she feels about her game this year.
- My feelings about my game are pretty good at the moment, since I feel I have had a good training period. This year, my key milestone was to win a challenge tournament. So, I’m glad to have won the Belgian International and reached the finals at the SaarLorLux Open, Christophersen said.
At the Denmark Challenge earlier this year, Christophersen reached the semi-final and had a brilliant three game match against Mia Blichfeldt, the current top singles player in Denmark. Christophersen just lost out in a tight third game. At such a young age to push Blichfeldt, who now sits at number twelve in the world, was a terrific feat. We asked how it made her feel and what she took away from the experience.
- It was nice to feel that my game could be at the top level. I now know to keep fighting and practice harder, she stated.
Lastly, we spoke about her current training set-up and future targets.
- I practice at the Peter Gade Academy and the National Centre as normal. Next I have the Scottish Open, and then the Italian International in December will be my last tournament this year. What the next year brings, I do not know yet, the Dane ended.
