Last week’s Malaysia Masters runner-up Viktor Axelsen (Denmark) has moved one spot up on this week’s BWF World Ranking list. The Dane has earned 7800 points from the tournament, with a total of 77168 points to place him on the 4th spot on the world ranking list.

A semifinalist in last year’s Indonesia Masters, this year Axelsen had a solid start in Jakarta - beating Lin Dan (China) and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito (Indonesia), earning a place in tomorrow’s quarterfinals. He shared on his Facebook page after the first round win:

-Good start here at Indonesia Masters. Managed to win in straight games against Lin Dan. As always a good experience to be playing in front of a loud and supportive Indonesian crowd.

Other changes

Anders Antonsen (Denmark) has hit the top 3 in this week’s BWF World Ranking list. He had been standing in this position for five weeks in a row in November-December, 2019. By the end of the year, the Dane was ranked one position lower for four weeks. Now, with 77600 points he is back to his career-best result. With a first round loss in Malaysia Masters, Antonsen has a chance to defend his title in Indonesia Masters this week.

Line Kjaersfeldt (Denmark) has moved one spot up to occupy position no. 29 on the women’s singles world ranking list. She got an early exit in Malaysia Masters, losing in the first round to the winner of the tournament – Chen Yufei (China). However, the Dane managed to beat her in the first round of Indonesia Masters, losing to Beiwen Zhang (USA) in the second round.

Kirsty Gilmour (Scotland) has moved three spots up to occupy position no. 31. She started the Asian tour with a first round win in Indonesia Masters and today she lost to Korea’s An se Young.
