Emotions all over the place

Selena Piek and Robin Tabeling made a big surprise today at the All England, when they sent first seeded Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya Qiong out in the second round.

The Dutch pair walked on court as big underdogs when they were facing the top seeded Chinese, but they for sure surprised everyone when it was them who walked from court as winners.

- Our emotions are all over the place. I do not think it has really settled in yet. We played amazing and beating them here and reaching the quarterfinal at All England is one of my biggest dreams. We are so happy, Piek said.

- Everything seemed on our site today. We were on top, we were dominate, we were fast. They struggled from the beginning and we did not give them any chance to feel comfortable. They knew they had to challenge us on the really thin lines. But we stayed on top the entire match and I think that is what pulled us through, Tabeling added.

A crazy win

First game was very close especially from 11 and to the end, which ended 22-20 in favor of the Dutch. The two pairs followed each other very closely until the break, where Piek and Tabeling pulled away and made a 7-point gap. But as the reality of a quarterfinal came closer and closer, the Chinese got a few quick points all of a sudden it was close again. The Dutch though managed to keep the focus and won 21-17.

- Once you have that first game, you know they will come up with something, so we were prepared for that. But they still kept on struggling and I think we even raised our level there, from 11 especially. Then things got a little bit tense, but somehow, we managed to pull through, Piek ended.

Tomorrow they will face sixth seeded Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yujung from Korea.
