The 2020 BEC Congress in Bucharest, Romania from 3-5 April 2020, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation.

We are in a very difficult situation in Europe with the Covid-19 virus spreading rapidly across the Continent. Serious measures are being taken by governments to contain the spread and notably gatherings are being limited and travel is being restricted. WHO has declared the Covid-19 virus to be a pandemic.

Badminton Europe (BEC) is responsible for ensuring that no participant in a Confederation’s event receives less favourable treatment and as the circumstances around Europe prevent the Delegates from some Member Associations to travel safely and without restrictions, the BEC Board of Directors has the duty to take such reasonable steps as are necessary to uphold the Principles and achieve the Objectives of the Confederation. Therefore, the BEC Board of Directors has decided to postpone the 2020 Annual Delegates’ Meeting (ADM) and the connected activities.

The ADM shall be reconvened at a later time when the circumstances allow the delegates to enjoy the same opportunities when attending the ADM. The BEC Board of Directors will inform the Member Associations in due course whether it will be possible to organise the other planned 2020 Congress activities together with the reconvened ADM.

Due to the BEC regulations the ADM shall be held no later than 15 months after the previous ADM. Given the circumstance Badminton Europe might have to deviate from this instruction this year.

Badminton Europe wish you all well and hope that you will take care of each other in these difficult times.
