Kristin Kuuba had all eyes on the Olympic Games, but these plans have now been changed do to the postponement of the Games.

Last week it was announced that the Olympic Games in Tokyo, which should have taken place in July-August 2020, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation. The new dates for the Olympics have still not been confirmed.

New focus
For many athletes the postponement changed almost their entire life. One of these athletes is Estonian Kristin Kuuba.

- I would say that Olympics was the main goal for this season but now as the Tokyo 2020 is postponed, I have to change my plans. It is new situation for everybody and it is confusing as there is no information, when the tournaments will start again, Kuuba stated.

- As I have not been on the podium since 2018, my next goal for upcoming season is to be on top 4 at Challenge level tournament or even better. This season I was six times in the quarter finals, and now I would like to make next step. I would also like to be in the best shape at European Championships and World Championships.

Want to make history
Estonian men’s singles star Raul Must won a
bronze medal at the European Games 2019.  It was the first medal for Estonian badminton medal at a senior level championship and the fact that the country can win medals motivates the 23-year old women’s singles player.

- I would like to be the first women to achieve the same. My next big goal is medal from European Championships, Kuuba said.

- Of course every athlete is dreaming of Olympic or World Championship medal, but there is a lot of hard work to do to catch the level of Asian players. I do not want to say that it is impossible, but I have to improve my game in every element. If you believe in it, then everything is possible.
