Earlier today Ruben Jille joined us in a live session to talk about the current situation, his still new partnership with Ties Van Der Lecq and much more.
Jille had a good period right before everything shut down with getting a silver medal at the European Men’s Team Championships and also reaching the final at the Austrian Open with Ties Van Der Lecq.
- I feel there is never a good time to stop. For me it was actually quite horrible, I felt that finally things were going well, we had a good level and we had some good victories. It was almost the worst timing, but there was no other option, so we just had to accept and deal with it, Jille said.

Hopefully back soon
Denmark recently opened the National Training Centre with very strict guidelines, where only six players and one coach are allowed to come to the centre at the same time and they have to keep at least a two-meter distance at all times. Asking Jille when it will be possible for the Dutch players to play again, he said.
- Our president had a big announcement yesterday, that the regulations will be a little bit softer. But it is not yet clear what is going to happen with our training centre, but the government did say that there is a chance that top sport facilities will be very strictly opened, so I feel there is chance that maybe next week or the week after, we are able to train in small groups. But there is no clear information yet.

The new partnership
Previously, Jille played with Jacco Arends, wherein 2016, they were semifinalists at the Dutch Open and in 2017 he won his first international title at the Spanish International. Now in 2020, he is partnering Ties Van Der Lecq. Talking about how the partnership is going, he said.
- I think in the beginning I maybe expected too much. We played quite well in the first tournament we played and also the next couple of tournaments, but then we dropped a little bit, and I think I was expecting too much from Ties. From January on we talked a lot and said that we also had to enjoy playing and not focus too much on the results.
You can still watch the live session with Ruben Jille on our Instagram until tomorrow morning.
The next live session will be Friday 24 April at 10.00 CEST with Mariya Mitsova.
