Olga Morozova started playing badminton when she was only seven years old. Now 18 years later at an age of 25, the situation was not what the Russian player expected.
The year 2020 was for sure not what any badminton player had hoped for. A lot of big tournaments has been cancelled, venues and fitness centers have been shut down for months and the Olympic Games were postponed. The goal for 2020 has now changed for Perminova.
- The biggest goal for me now is to come back to the normal badminton life. It seems like many countries let their players to practice again in the national centers, but we are still in the middle of nowhere. I hope that we will be back to the center in June and start to catch up. We have the special program from the national team’s coaches to keep fit now, but I can’t wait to practice and play on court again.

The level has risen
Morozova and her partner, Anastasiia Akchurina, won a bronze medal at the European Championships in 2017. Since 2017 they have become runner-up at both Austrian Open and Estonian International 2019. The reason is simple.
- I think that women’s doubles level in Europe has risen. The way we played some years ago using long rallies and good defense doesn’t work well for us now. We’re trying to change the style and to attack more but it is not about the power it is about accuracy.
The Russian mixed team has done well over the last years, where they have claimed bronze medals in 2009-2015 and then again in 2019. In 2017 they even claimed a silver medal. The Mixed Team Qualification will be played in 6 months, but what can we expect from the Russian team this year?
- Russian mixed team has been on podium last years. So, I guess that our expectations are pretty high.
