With the Denmark Open 2020 starting on Tuesday next week we take a look at one of the players who will play the tournament in not only one category, but two, the men’s doubles and mixed doubles.

In this article, we get to know Marvin Seidel, world’s number 23 in men’s doubles with Mark Lamsfuss and number 37 in the world with Linda Efler in mixed doubles, a little better.  He answers questions about how he started playing badminton, what he likes to do in his free time at tournaments and what he would be doing if he wasn’t playing badminton for a living.

How did you start playing badminton?

- I started badminton by chance, as my home club was  recommended to my parents.

What do you do in your spare time when you are not in the badminton hall or at the gym?

- I love golfing, fishing and playing pool. I study economics as well and I try to spend as much time as possible with my girlfriend.

What is your best badminton memory and why?

- Reaching the semifinal at the Korea open 2017 as it was very unexpected and my first good international result.

If you could choose one player to play doubles with, who would it be and why?

- Fu Haifeng. I love his style and power and I think we would fit well.

When you are at tournaments, what do you like to do when you are not playing matches or warming up?

To go and find nice golf courses, pool and I love good food!

Who is your favourite player of all time and why?

- Hendra Setiawan. Big role model, so humble and just the coolest guy on court ever.

If you weren’t playing badminton, what would you be doing then?

- I would try my luck as a professional golf or maybe any other sport. But I would definitely do professional sport, that’s for sure.
