The big favourite of Group 3 is now two for two at the qualification for the 2021 European Mixed Team Championships.

All eyes are on the Netherlands at qualification Group 3, and for the second day in a row the Dutch team had no problem securing the point, winning the tie against Austria 4-1.

Perfect opening
Austria threw away multiple opportunities in the opening match, the mixed doubles, and Debora Jille and Ties van der Lecq won in straight games, 26-24 21-17, against Dominik Stipsits and Serena Au Yeong.

Mark Caljouw secured the second point for the Dutch team winning the men’s singles against Wolfgang Gnedt 21-7 21-14.

- I think it was fine. Especially in the first game I told myself that I had to push it, and that I had to dictate the pace, and it worked quite good in the first game. In the second I had more focus problems but that is how it is, Caljouw said.

Rookie secured the victory
Jaymie Laurens made her international debut for the Dutch team in the tie against Austria, where she faced Jenny Ertl, who made her comeback for the Austrian team since she was part of a tragic car accident in 2018.

Laurens won this very special match up 21-12 21-10, securing the third point and the victory for the Netherlands.

- I am really happy with the effort and the fighting spirit of the young girls. Yesterday Nadia lost but fought very well, and today Jaymie got a nice and easy win, coach Ruud Bosch said.

Austria got a point on the scoreboard winning the men’s doubles, before Cheryl Seinen and Debora Jille sealed the victory winning the women’s doubles.
