Danish national coach tested positive for COVID-19 at All England

Denmark's assistant national coach Thomas Stavngaard has tested positive for COVID-19 for All England.

The Danish assistant national coach Thomas Stavngaard has been tested positive for COVID-19 in Birmingham, England. The PCR test was taken on Monday 15 March as part of the All England tournament's test strategy.

Thomas Stavngaard says that he does not feel any symptoms of COVID-19, but conversely feels fresh.

Stavngaard and the rest of the Danish team have followed all protocols in connection with entry into England and tournament participation for the All England Open.

He underwent a PCR test on Friday morning after training at the National Elite Training Center, which was negative. He was to present the negative PCR test in connection with his flight to Heathrow on Sunday afternoon together with the rest of the Danish team.

The entire Danish team was PCR-tested at the hotel on Monday morning at 9.00 am. Then they went directly to the rooms for isolation, where they remain. It also means that they are not going to train today as planned.

The consequences of the positive COVID-19 case is still unknown. That is why Badminton Denmark is in close dialogue with Badminton England, the All England tournament management, BWF and the local authorities.

We will provide further information when we receive new information from the above parties.
