Neslihan Yigit, Turkey, has been forced to withdraw from All England 2021.

Last night, the entire Indonesian team was withdrawn from the All England. On Thursday, Neslihan Yigit, Turkey has also been withdrawn.

The European Games 2015 bronze medalist was on the same inbound flight from Turkey to England as the Indonesian team.

On court yesterday
All England 2021 has come to an end for Neslihan Yigit, who was on court on Wednesday. In the thrilling match up against French Marie Batomene, the Turkish women’s singles profile won in three games. 24 hours later, she will not be allowed to enter court to play number three seed Akane Yamaguchi, Japan.

In a press release BWF stated:

“The UK Government’s National Health Service (NHS) Test and Trace service did also communicate notice of the required self-isolation to Yigit, with BWF and Badminton England receiving confirmation early Thursday morning GMT.

Both BWF and Badminton England would like to clarify that the decision to enforce Indonesian team players and entourage, and now Yigit, to self-isolate for 10 days was made independently by the NHS Test and Trace service.

Respecting the procedures
In Turkey the national federation feel sorry for their biggest star, who is not part of the World Tour Super 1000 tournament anymore.

- Neslihan had a very good preparation for All England and we had big expectations. Maybe she could beat Yamaguchi.

- Due to reasons beyond our control, we are unfortunately withdrawn from the tournament. That was not our decision. We can do nothing. For sure health comes first, and we have to respect the procedures of the local government health authorities, President of Turkish Badminton Federation, Murat Özmekik said.
