The Danish Thomas Cup team won Thomas Cup Group B.

Already before the final night of the Thomas Cup group stage, the hosts from Denmark were qualified for the knock-out stage, which will begin on Friday morning. Victories against fellow Europeans, Germany and France, secured the spot among the last eight teams in the tournament.

Where was no hesitation from Viktor Axelsen, who beat Heo Kwanghee in straight games 21-12 21-14 in the opening match of the tie.

- I am pretty happy about my performance. I managed to come out playing at a pretty high level from the ‘get go’. In the last part of the second game it was a situation where I might relaxed a bit and he did as well, Axelsen said.

Danish victory
Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup made it 2-0 for Denmark beating Yong Jin/Seo Seungjae 21-19 21-8 before Anders Antonsen secured the win winning 21-15 21-14 against Jeon Hyeok Jin.

- It is a great feeling. I am very happy to get the win in straight games although I am not totally satisfied with my level today. My old coach, Morten Frost, once said: “It is not about winning, when you are playing well. It is about winning when you are not”, Antonsen said.

- Today was exactly what I needed. I was pushed today, even though it was not a really close match I still feel we had some good and long rallies.

Draw tomorrow
Mathias Christiansen and Frederik Søgaard lost their first match at the event, losing a thrilling match in straight games against Kang Munhyuk/Kim Wonho. The Danes lost 19-21 20-22.

Rasmus Gemke was last man in action and the MS3 is back on a positive note. Gemke claimed the victory in straight games 21-9 22-20 against Cho Geonyeop.

The draw for the Thomas Cup knock-out stage will be taking place Thursday afternoon.
