Covid-19 measures around the coming Major Events were discussed. It was agreed to monitor the global situation closely, with the intention of not enforcing additional restrictions on the coming events, other than those enforced by the local authorities of the hosting country.

France to host EMTC23
Based on a recommendation of the Events Committee, the Board approved a bid from the French Badminton Federation and allocated the 2023 European Mixed Team Championships to Aire sur la Lys, France, pending a contract being signed.

Aire sur la Lys hosted a qualification group for the 2019 European Mixed Team Championships.

The Board approved a bid from Serbia to host the 2022 European Junior Championships. The event will take place from 18-27 August 2022 for the very first time at the Athletic Hall in Belgrade.

Development Committee:
It was discussed to introduce the topic of a Social Return On Investment (SROI) model for badminton, taking inspiration from work done by another major body within European sports. The topic will be included in the program of the Members’ Forum during the BEC Congress in April in Malta.

Quality sparring
Based on the recommendation of the High-Performance Commission, the Board approved a project to financially support sparring for European top players within a flexible model which aims at bringing the top players from the European top nations together for training camps and also supporting sparring for players in their own training environment.

The Board furthermore approved a project for young European players to collaborate with other top nations and also gain experience to train with and play against Asian players, potentially in Asia.

Business Committee:
The Board approved an updated Badminton Europe logo and the first version of a new Branding Manual.

Updated BEC brand
The office will continue the implementation of the updated logo and work on an extensive Brand Architecture and Branding Manual, including the way of using the updated logo for various activities.

The new logo is to be introduced in connection with the 2022 Congress in Malta.
