Stoeva Insta tips

Let Europe’s top women’s doubles pair and badminton’s favourite sisters on Instagram tell you what’s behind their posts.

Instagram, one of the most popular Social Media platforms at the moment, can credit most of its success to it serving as a place where to connect with friends and those who inspire us, like badminton players. Some of our badminton stars post their day-to-day snaps, giving fans a glimpse into a usual day in their lives while others go for insightful videos on their training routines and technical advice.

The Stoeva sisters are amongst the most popular on Instagram in the European badminton scene but also well beyond our continent. Around 130.000 have clicked on the follow button on their profiles to keep up with what the world number nine pair are up to. Here is what Gabriela and Stefani Stoeva have told us on how they use Instagram to connect with their fans.

Consistency? Don’t overthink it.
”We never put a goal on how many posts we should do. We just want to share with our fans.”

Up your game by enhancing the content you share.
“When it comes to apps, we use Snapseed to edit photos. For videos, we use VIDEOCAM+ and VIVAVIDEO to merge multiple videos into one.”

Give some thought into your captions
The Stoevas love quotes to go with some of their photos.  For them, inspiration is just a quick search away. “We use Google so we never write the same things.”

Make your captions pop up
Gabriela is known to use special fonts for her captions. She gets them from Google and uses them to stand out.

“I just like when there are different fonts for each post.”

Hashtags, yay or nay?
Many instagrammers max out on hashtags for their captions. Some even have their branded and unique one, like BEC’s #welivebadminton. However, for the Stoeva sisters, it is not that important but they know it can help.

“I don’t think they are that important for us, but they help to get more views and likes sometimes.”

The artist behind the lens
We had a suspicion but we had to ask, who is the person behind the camera for their photos? The answer didn’t come as a surprise.

“We take each other’s photos”.

Having someone to look up to
We all have our favourite Instagram account that we can sometimes use as inspiration for our own posts, outfits, or even workouts.

Stefani: “My favourite Instagram person is American singer Becky G”
Gabriela: “I follow many famous influencers to get inspired. For abs workout, Pamela Reif is my favourite.”

Finding inspiration in fellow badminton players
The sisters have one person in mind when asked about who else do they think is doing a good job on Instagram.

“Lauren Smith is very active, and she is quite good on social media. She shows badminton tips and that for sure helps a lot of her fans.”

No haters
Internet “trolls” are sadly an unavoidable element of social media nowadays. Yet, the popular sisters don’t really have to deal with that as fans just flood them with support through their comments.

“We don’t get negative comments. We receive so much positive feedback and a lot of advice, which is very kind from our fans.”
