BWF World Junior Championships 2022

The 2022 BWF World Junior Championships started Monday, 18 October in Santander, making this the second time Spain hosts the event. The World Junior Championships are one of the longest tournaments, lasting for two weeks and this edition will end on October 30. The last two editions were cancelled and now, 37 countries from all around the world have entered the competition, that takes place for the fourth time in Europe. 

The tournament for U19 players consists of two events - mixed team and individual championships. The mixed team event kicked off the 12-day competition, with a group stage of eight groups. In Group A Indonesia, Malaysia, Sweden and Latvia are competing. Indonesia, the 2019 champions, are leading their group. 

India, Australia, Slovenia, Iceland and China are part of the Group B. China, 13-times winner of the mixed team event since 2000 is, once again, raking first place in its group. Chinese Taipei is leading group C, in which Germany, Portugal, Peru and Georgia are also competing. 

In Group D, England is in first place, followed by Czech Republic, Sri Lanka and Armenia. Türkiye, who was also part of this group, have withdrawn. In Group E, Denmark, this year's European Junior champions are playing, but Korea is leading for now and so is Spain in Group F, United States of America in G and Japan in H.
