The games are over

Today, the final clash between athletes took place in Orleans, France.

Out of two Europeans, one became a gold medallist. Carolina Marin faced Beiwen Zhang and won in three games 25-23, 9-21, 21-10.  Despite the close result in the first game, and the loss in the second, Carolina Marin managed to fight back and claim the title.  With this win, Marin secured her first gold medal of the year and shared that she is ready for some holidays.

Magnus Johannesen was the other European athlete playing in the Orleans Masters’ finals. The Dane faced India’s Priyanshu Rajawat and lost 15-21, 21-19, 16-21. Johannesen achieved a personal milestone by reaching the podium with a silver medal in a BWF World Tour tournament for the first time.

In women’s doubles Rena Miyaura and Ayako Sakuramoto, from Japan, won against Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning, from China 21-19, 16-21, 21-12.

Also from China, Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi are the gold winners in men’s doubles, as they won their match versus Indonesia’s Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana 21-19 21-17.

Lastly, and with the shortest match of the day, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei became the mixed doubles winning pair of the tournament, beating Ye Hong Wei and Lee Chia Hsin 21-19 21-17.
