Popov defeats world number five

The Singapore Open 2023 is halfway through and everybody is getting ready for tomorrow's quarterfinals.

This afternoon, Christo Popov proved his amazing form of the recent months once again and won against Loh Kean Yew, who’s currently number five in the world ranking, 21-10, 23-21.

Popov secured his spot at the Singapore Open quarterfinals and his next opponent will be Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the current number three in the world ranking. Will Christo Popov gather all his strengths and be able to defeat Vitidsarn for a spot in the semifinals?

A big win for Christiansen and Bøje 

Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje stunned the world’s number two in mixed doubles, Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai, winning in straight games 26-24 22-20.

Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, faced Chou Tien Chen (TPE) in today’s second round, winning 21-12 21-15. In tomorrow’s quarterfinals, he will play against Chia Hao Lee (TPE).

Ben Lane and Sean Vendy didn’t disappoint after beating the world’s number one pair in straight games two days ago, and today won again versus M.R. Arjun and Dhruv Kapila from India. The Englishmen advanced to the quarterfinals and their next opponents will be Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang from China. 

On another note, Carolina Marin (Spain) and Mathias Thyrri/ Amalie Magelund (Denmark) lost their matches, ending their journey at the Singapore Open 2023.
