The European University Championships 2023 in badminton are kicking off tomorrow in Miskolc, Hungary, and will last until 19 July.

Twenty university sports will take place at 15 separate cities across Europe over a three-month period with athletes, organisers, and host cities now finalising preparations ahead of their different events. The first sport to take it's EUC 2023 was football starting on 25 June.

The badminton competition in Miskolc will host a total of 200 athletes from 11 countries and 16 universities competing in a team competition followed by an individual tournament. This international sports event is organised in cooperation between the European University Sports Association and the Hungarian University Sports Federation.

Hungarian national player Daniella Gonda, who reached the finals in women's singles at last year's European University Games and finished with a silver medal, is eagerly looking forward to the Badminton European Universities Championship in Miskolc.

"I will also participate in the championship, and I hope to achieve an even brighter medal than last year's silver. The field is competitive, with excellent players. Badminton is a very spectacular sport, so those who attend the matches will definitely have a great time", stated Gonda on Eusa.eu.

Radomir Jovovic, Member of the Board of Directors at Badminton Europe and Technical Delegate for the EUC 2023, is looking forward to the entertaining event in Miskolc:

"Badminton, as an impressive Olympic sport, is traditionally on the programme of the European Universities Games and European University Championships.

We are delighted to have a new edition of the European Universities Championship in the City of Miskolc as a test event for the forthcoming European Universities Games which will be held in Debrecen and Miskolc in the year 2024.

Sixteen universities will be competing in the team and individual badminton tournaments which is a big success. Beside competition all the participants will have a great opportunity to gather and have a lot of fun around University of Miskolc which will be ‘the heart’ of the EUC 2023.
