Game on for Para badminton

The badminton event at the 2023 European Para Championships has commenced in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The tournament is taking place from Tuesday, August 15, to Sunday, August 20, with the finals on the last day. 

Among the top European players attending the event, English player Rachel Choong expressed her excitement about the big tournament ahead. “Very excited to be here with this being my first multi-sports event, and it’s nice to get a bit of a feel of what Paris 2024 might be like. Big Road to Paris qualification points up for grabs this week so hopefully can make the most of it with some good performances!” said the athlete via Instagram.

On th Road to Paris 2024, a total of 135 players are set to compete across 22 events. The tournament will showcase all five disciplines in the following manner:

Men’s and Women’s singles:
1. Wheelchair WH 1
2. Wheelchair WH 2
3. Standing Lower SL 3
4. Standing Lower SL 4
5. Standing Upper SU 5
6. Short Stature SH 6

Men’s doubles:
1. Wheelchair WH 1 – WH 2
2. Standing Lower SL 3 – SL 4
3. Standing Upper SU 5
4. Short Stature SH 6

Women’s doubles:
1. Wheelchair WH 1 – WH 2
2. Standing Lower/Upper SL 3 – SU 5
3. Short Stature SH 6

Mixed doubles:
1. Wheelchair WH 1 – WH 2
2. Standing Lower/Upper SL 3 – SU 5
3. Short Stature SH 6
