In the finals of the VICTOR Denmark Open 2023, the winners have found inspiration to grow as well as fuel their confidence and energy to continue in the busy month ahead.
Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik’s truly stands out among all the success stories from today. The 2022 World Champions and this year’s bronze medallists have certainly acquired a large number of great results in their career but they had always been seeking a World Tour title.
“Today is the day,” said Soh. Indeed, today brought something great for the pair after a week of solid performances. “We got through a lot of finals and couldn’t get the title, and now we finally did it. This is motivation to go further.”
“To believe and always have trust in ourselves, that is the most important. To never give up, no matter what,” are the inspiring words that Chia said after their win that secured them the title, winning against Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana, 21-13 21-17. “We’ve gotten to a lot of finals, a lot of medals but now we finally did it. I believe there is more to come.”
In an all-Chinese final, Feng Yan Zhe/ Huang Dong Ping secured the gold by defeating Zheng Si Wei/
Huang Ya Qion. The only match to go to three games today is the first for Feng and Huang to win against their compatriots and was also a repeat of last year’s Denmark Open final.
The thrilling match ended on a high note, with Zheng and Huang having five game points but their opponents caught up to take the win as soon as they got their chance. “The most important was that we were not afraid even though there were challenges along the way. We just trusted in ourselves and were not afraid of making mistakes. That’s how we did it,” explained Huang.
