KFF Singapore Badminton Open finals day saw a theme of players and pairs defending their titles, with a few surprises too.

It was the top two players doing battle in the women's singles final. An Se Young defended her title with an entertaining 21-19, 16-21, 21-12 win over Chen Yu Fei.

A decade ago, this feat was last achieved by Wang Yihan in 2013 and 2014.

Chen/ Jia make history
Chen Qing Chen/ Jia Yi Fan ended a 20-year wait for a women's doubles pair to retain their Singapore Open title! They defeated Japan's Nami Matsuyama/ Chiharu Shida 21-15, 21-12 in the final.

It was China's Yang Wei/ Zhang Jiewen who went back-to-back in 2003 and 2004. The pair then proceeded to win Olympic Gold in Athens. Perhaps a good omen leading into Paris?

China dominance
Team China come away from Singapore with an impressive four titles and a runners up medal.

Zheng Si Wei/ Huang Ya Qiong won their 11th Super 750 title with a 21-11, 21-19 victory over Yang Po-Hsuan/ Hu Ling Fang of Chinese Taipei.

In the final of the day, Shi Yu Qi came from a game behind to grind out a win against teammate Li Shi Feng, 17-21, 21-19, 21-19. His third Super 750 title of the year.

He Ji Ting/ Ren Xiang Yu stunned the favoured Fajar Alfian/ Muhammad Rian Ardianto, 21-19, 21-14, to win their first Super 750 title.
