I grew up in a small town near Frankfurt and was active in my youth, whether with family, friends or in club sports.
 

I played badminton, tennis and handball from an early age until I was a young adult. In the end, I switched to American football to try something completely new and played it in various leagues and levels until last year. 

I have only been working for the German Badminton Association for a few months and have become the national coordinator for Shuttle Time.  

As I work in Para badminton and education, I have been able to gain experience in both areas in a short span of time. Having worked in disabled sports in recent years, I’m particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity for people with disabilities to participate in Para badminton and at the same time the promotion of exercise and sport for this target group. 

I received a very warm welcome from everyone and it feels like I’m returning to my roots. Events like the German Para Badminton Championships and the qualifying tournament for the European Team Championships of the German national team have been my most impressive experiences as I was able to establish warm and cordial relationships. 

Back to the roots! Badminton in Germany is not just my employer, but a sport that I am learning to appreciate again and that I am becoming more and more passionate about every day. 

Badminton is a fast-paced and varied game. For me, the special attraction lies in the rapid change of game situations. The shuttlecock can also be played accurately and in a variety of ways in a short space. 

Shuttle Time offers a great opportunity to integrate badminton into school sport and gives teachers a lot of help to organise lessons accordingly. 

The nationwide implementation of Shuttle Time is a challenge due to the different school curricula in the 16 different federal states in Germany. As a result, there are often small but nevertheless important differences in how and to what extent sport can be taught in general. It is not always easy to ensure that badminton receives the appropriate attention in school sports.  

But this is exactly where Shuttle Time can be used to provide teachers with the best possible support in teaching badminton and to awaken a passion for our sport among teachers.
