Intensity, emotions, drama, and triumph – it all unfolded during the quarterfinals played this morning in Spain at this year’s European Junior Team Championships.
The atmosphere was electric, both on the courts and among the spectators, as it was decided which nations would advance to the semifinals later today.
The quarterfinal matchups featured France vs. Switzerland, Germany vs. Poland, Netherlands vs. Romania, and Türkiye vs. Denmark. Exceptional performances were on display, with all players being cheered on by their teammates from the stands. Every match was closely contested and could have gone either way.
France vs. Switzerland
France got off to a strong start, winning the mixed doubles in straight sets.
The men’s singles followed, with Switzerland looking like the likely winner for much of the match. However, Arthur Tatranov made a stunning comeback to secure a three-set victory for France.
The women’s singles was another three-set battle, with Switzerland’s Leila Zarrouk earning an impressive win.
The fourth match was the men’s doubles, which France dominated, sealing a 3-1 victory for the team.
Germany vs. Poland
Poland started strong, winning both the mixed doubles and the men’s singles in straight sets.
Germany’s Gloria Poluektov reduced the deficit to 2-1 with a hard-fought three-set victory in the women’s singles.
However, the Polish men’s doubles team clinched the win, giving Poland a 3-1 overall triumph.
Netherlands vs. Romania
Romania made an excellent start with Luca-Stefan Pandele securing victory in the men’s singles after an impressive performance throughout the tournament.
However, the Netherlands took control of the remaining matches, securing a 3-1 win and advancing to the semifinals.
Türkiye vs. Denmark
Türkiye came out strong, with Mehmet Can Toremis winning the men’s singles after a brilliant match.
Denmark equalized with a win in the women’s singles, followed by a thrilling men’s doubles match that went to three sets and lasted nearly an hour. Denmark emerged victorious.
The women’s doubles match left little doubt, as Denmark dominated to secure a 3-1 victory and a spot in the semifinals.
