Badminton Europe (BEC) is excited to announce the upcoming election for the BEC Athletes’ Commission, set to take place during the European Championships in Horsens, Denmark, in April 2025. This election includes representation from both badminton and para-badminton players.
About the BEC Athletes’ Commission
The BEC Athletes’ Commission serves as a vital link between active European badminton and para-badminton players and the BEC Board of Directors, Committees, and Commissions. The commission comprises four members:
Three European badminton players
One European para-badminton player
The current members of the BEC Athletes’ Commission are:
Kai Schäfer (GER): Chair and BEC Board of Directors member
Richard Perot (FRA)
Agnes Korosi (HUN)
Importance of the Commission
The BEC Athletes’ Commission advocates for athletes’ interests, ensuring their voices are represented in key decisions that shape the future of badminton in Europe.
Call for Nominations
We encourage all member associations to share this announcement with athletes and submit nominations for the BEC Athletes’ Commission. Nominations should be submitted to BEC General Secretary Brian Agerbak using the

Key Election Dates and Process
20 January 2025: Election date of 8 April announced
12 March 2025: Deadline for nominations
19 March 2025: Deadline to make nominations public
7 April 2025: Deadline for e-mail voting (midnight CET)
9 April 2025: Official voting at the European Championships in Horsens, Denmark
Eligibility Criteria
To stand for election, candidates must:
Represent a Member Association of BEC and maintain good standing with their association.
Be at least 18 years old.
Have no sanctions for doping or irregular match-related offenses during their career.
Be an active player, either appearing on the World Ranking List at the time of election or having participated in recent major championships.
