While all eight seeded teams emerged unscathed from the opening day of the tournament, Day 2 brought unexpected upsets and even more thrilling matches.

France and Denmark, seeded 1st and 2nd respectively, enjoyed a rest day thanks to their top seedings. However, it was a different story for 3rd/4th-seeded Ukraine, who faced Romania in a fiercely contested tie. With immense support from the Romanian crowd and some stellar performances, Romania triumphed 3-2, handing Ukraine a surprising defeat. Romania now controls their own destiny as they face Finland tomorrow, a team that has lost their first two ties 4-1 and 4-1.

Ukraine wasn’t the only seeded team to stumble today. In Group 6, 5th/8th-seeded Spain fell 3-2 to England. This result has set up a nail-biting finale for tomorrow, with England, Spain, and the Netherlands all vying for the single quarterfinal spot from the group.
